Do you want to grow your own fruit and vegetables without chemicals,
hormones, artificial herbicides and pesticides? Exclude genetically
modified organisms from your diet? Brisbane Organic Growers Inc (BOGI) has the answers! Our club was
formed on the second of October 1975 and since that time we have
strived to achieve these objectives:
- The improvement of agriculture and horticulture
generally;
- Research into, and the study of, improved methods
of organic farming and gardening; and
- The advancement of knowledge and the fostering
of public interest in organic gardening and farming and in other
ecologically appropriate materials, techniques, methods and technologies
generally.
Changing from chemical to organic gardening and farming means discovering
how nature does things and adopting those methods. It is a healing
process for both the garden and the gardener. Aggressive attitudes
that seek to subdue nature and bend her are replaced by peaceful
cooperation and coexistence, and with nature as your friend you
can't lose!
We hope you enjoy your visit to our site. During monthly meetings, we will also be having a forum discussing
popular topics, where members share their knowledge and experience A
Buy, Swap or Sell table will be located in the Hall. Members can bring
small amounts of goods for this. There is no charge, but sellers
themselves are personally responsible for their own sales. The bigger
stallholders are required to donate something from their stall for the
in-meeting multi-prize raffle. Our notice boards around the hall
are renewed regularly and contain items of interest for members about
gardening and the environment. Free project material, back copies
of environmental newsletters, literature and brochures on the table
beneath are available to take away. Displays or items of interest that
connect to organic growing are included as well. These are for viewing
